Amy is the co-founder of Royal Ascension a cannabis content company, but she’s not new to the cannabis industry. Just over 3 years ago, Amy joined a startup which would quickly grow to be the largest medical cannabis clinic in Canada – serving over 100,000 patients across the country.

“It was truly a magical time. Recreational cannabis wasn’t yet legal, and the surge of medical cannabis patients was just about to happen, and when it did, it was unreal. We had a small but very hard working and compassionate team.”

Amy was head of marketing, and eventually became the VP of Patient Experience.

“If you’re working in this industry, you understand that it’s going to come with some challenges. It’s relatively new, heavily regulated, and has a strong stigma attached to it… and, I love all of it! I see it as an opportunity to get creative. Traditional media not paying attention to you? Make your own!”

Amy was the producer/director of The Cannabis Show, a weekly show focused on medical cannabis in Canada. With over 100 episodes the show also took home 3 CCA Awards in 2017 and 2018.

“Cannabis is not a ‘magic pill’ and it doesn’t always work for everyone, but I can say with certainty there’s something to this plant that goes beyond its stigma. I have been lucky enough to witness some incredible patient journeys, and I believe that soon the overwhelming anecdotal evidence will become truth – with normalization, research, and education.”

“When you’re first starting to explore cannabis, it can be a bit overwhelming. There’s a lot of (mis)information to sort through. Some people don’t know why saying ‘marijuana’ can be considered offensive, for example, or not everyone knows what a terpene is. We’re here to answer questions. Royal Ascension is a content creation company, but we’re educators first.”

When Amy isn’t creating content, she is studying for her MBA, practicing her deadlift, reading, and spending time with her lovely husband and 2 chihuahuas.
